In today's digital age, social media has fundamentally changed political communication in Germany. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram offer politicians new ways to interact directly with citizens and spread their messages. However, this immediate communication also carries significant risks, particularly regarding the spread of misinformation and the polarization of public opinion.
A central problem is the so-called 'echo chamber,' where users are primarily confronted with information that confirms their existing views. This phenomenon leads to societal fragmentation, as different groups increasingly move within their own isolated information bubbles. This not only complicates political debate but often distorts it, as rational discussions are replaced by emotionally charged and often hostile comments.
